It has been an enjoyable and successful year for the under 7’s in their first year together as a team. We have a good sized and very enthusiastic squad and have run mixed ability A and B teams with players moving between the two teams. Between them the two teams played some 24 matches – winning 20 and only losing 2. We scored lots of goals (110) and only conceded 21. We have entered 2 summer tournaments; we played well in the first one at Frome and are looking forward to the next one. But more important than the results has been the development of the youngsters both individually and as a team and the fun they have had together. I am grateful for a lot of support from parents, particularly Ant Greaves and Adam Thompson who have helped with coaching and refereed many games, a number of other dads who have also refereed (despite claims from at least one that his eyesight wasn’t up to the job). Jane Green and Sarah Bardi have collected the subs very effectively. Many thanks to W Reed Builders Ltd who provided an excellent new kit for all the players. We are looking forward to next season as the under 8s. Anyone with a child who is interested in joining the team should contact me.
