Another season of continued development for the team.
Two age groups completed winning doubles. After narrowly missing out on the
league title, with only one defeat all season, the U11s completed their season
with a fantastic cup double. The U13s completed a league and cup double, this
for the second year running.
With an aim to provide quality football coaching from a young age, it is great
to see the younger groups (U9s and U10s) also doing so well at an early stage.
We coach boys from age 6 at the club sessions on a Saturday morning at Chew
Valley School.
Another development is the mini soccer schools for children as young as four
at Chew Stoke Village Hall and an after-school club at the sports centre.
The sessions, recently started by Dave Hedges, offer a fun introduction to
ball and co-ordination skills for pre-school children.
Over the past year our club has supported the sports development project at
Chew Valley School and played an important role in helping to secure the funding.
The work on the new facilities (including an all weather astro-pitch) has
now started and we have signed a partnership agreement with the school for
priority use of the facilities.
We have made excellent progress in such a short time and we all look forward
to further enjoyment and success in football. The Football Foundation have
been supportive of our development and recently awarded us a grant. We also
thank all parents and the following sponsors for their continued support:
Scottish Equitable, Bank of Ireland, Broadoak Cider, Kelston Sparkes, Innogy
plc, Stoke Inn, Trigon, Bristol Water and also to Dave Stevenson of Manor
Mortgages who has provided great financial support to the club on a continued
basis.
